Rae Bourbon (aka "Ray Bourbon") started in show business in silent movies and English music hall and, in the 1930s and 40s, was known for his gay themed nightclub review and performances in San Francisco, Los Angeles and many other cities.

"Ladies of Burlesque" was recorded and released in the mid-1950s and was the tenth album released by Ray on the UTC (or "Under the Counter") label. The album consists of studio versions of some of Ray's popular nightclub songs and routines.

Of all Rae's albums, this is my favorite. Parade Girl's was on repeat in my car for ages. Three Girls at a Matinee is no slouch, either. It's everything you'll want when feeling "low and gay."
